Understand how turbocharging works Correct use of turbocharger accessories

At present, many domestic models of gasoline engines have applied the exhaust gas turbocharger technology. This technology can not only increase the power, but also increase the torque. However, some problems should be paid attention to when using the engine with this structure, otherwise it will cause the turbocharger. Premature damage to the turbocharger.

First of all, let's talk about the general structure of the turbocharger. The exhaust gas turbocharger is mainly composed of a pump wheel and a turbine, and of course there are other control components. The pump wheel and the turbine are connected by a shaft, that is, the rotor. The exhaust gas discharged from the engine drives the pump wheel, and the pump wheel drives the turbine to rotate. After the turbine rotates, the air intake system is pressurized. The turbocharger is installed on the exhaust side of the engine, so the working temperature of the turbocharger is very high, and the speed of the rotor of the turbocharger is very high when it is working, which can reach hundreds of thousands of revolutions per minute, such a high speed and temperature The common mechanical needle roller or ball bearing cannot work for the rotor, so the turbocharger generally adopts a fully floating bearing, which is lubricated by oil, and the coolant is used to cool the turbocharger.

Therefore, in view of this structural principle, some problems should be paid attention to when using this engine:

1. After the engine is started, it should run at idle speed for a while, so that the lubricating oil reaches a certain working temperature and pressure, so as to avoid accelerated wear or even stuck due to the lack of oil in the bearing when the load is suddenly increased.

2. When the vehicle is parked, because the rotation of the turbocharger rotor has a certain inertia, the engine should not be turned off immediately, but should be idle for a period of time, so that the temperature and speed of the turbocharger rotor will gradually decrease. Immediately extinguishing the flame will cause the oil to lose pressure, and the rotor will be damaged when it is not lubricated when it rotates by inertia.

3. Check the oil quantity frequently to avoid bearing failure and rotating parts stuck due to lack of oil.

4. Regularly replace the oil and machine filter. Because the full floating bearing has high requirements for lubricating oil, the brand oil specified by the manufacturer should be used.

5. Regularly clean and replace the air filter element. If the air filter is dirty, the air intake resistance will increase and the engine power will decrease.

6.Often check the tightness of the intake system, leakage will make dust inhalation turbocharger and engine, damage turbocharger and engine.

7.Due to the high precision of the turbocharger rotor bearing, the working environment requirements during maintenance and installation are very strict, so when the turbocharger fails or is damaged, it should go to the designated maintenance station for maintenance.
