Turbocharger Maintenance Points

Be careful to warm up the car. After the engine is started, do not step on the accelerator pedal abruptly, but run it at idle speed for a minute or two. Make sure the turbocharger is fully lubricated, and then you can increase the engine speed and start driving. Especially in winter, the idle warm-up time should be extended to 3 to 5 minutes, and at the same time, the accelerator should not be slammed to accelerate the warm-up to prevent damage to the supercharger oil seal.

Turn off the flame “gently”. A supercharged engine running at high speed should not suddenly stop, especially after driving at a high speed. The engine should be idle for about 3 minutes before the engine is turned off, and the speed of the turbocharger rotor will gradually decrease.

Keep it clean. It is necessary to clean the air filter on time to prevent dust and other impurities from entering the high-speed rotating compressor impeller, resulting in unstable rotation speed or increased wear of the shaft sleeve and seals.

Check the condition of the vehicle frequently. Always check the operation of the supercharger to prevent the supercharger from being loose and falling off, which will cause the supercharger to fail and the air to short-circuit into the cylinder. The turbine end of the supercharger is equipped with an alloy sealing ring. If the sealing ring is damaged, when the engine is running at high speed, the exhaust gas will enter the engine lubrication system through the sealing ring, which will make the oil dirty and cause the crankcase pressure to rise rapidly, and the engine will run at low speed. At this time, the oil will be discharged from the exhaust pipe through the sealing ring or enter the combustion chamber for combustion, resulting in excessive consumption of oil.
